  • Guru Rinpoche advised that individuals who have taken refuge in the Three Jewels should maintain a shrine which contains representations of enlightened body, speech and mind. Awakened body is represented by a statue, awakened speech by a text, and awakened mind by a stupa. This particular stupa was designed by Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, the great-grandson of Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa andemanation of Nupchen Sangye Yeshe, one of the twenty-five main disciples of Padmasambhava.

All stupas are filled with the required mantras, as well as holy earth from inside Boudhanath stupa.
  • Known for his mastery of Dzogchen and Mahamudra, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche transmitted teachings to such masters as the Sixteenth Karmapa, Dudjom Rinpoche, and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche is considered one of the greatest meditation masters of our time.

In the early 1990’s, several close students of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche brought the design for this stupa to the same statue makers who were commissioned to produce replicas of the “Chokling Guru,” found in the main shrine hall of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery. Known as a Namgyal Stupa, or Victory Stupa, this style of stupa commemoratesthe Buddha’s agreement to extend his life by three months, after one of his followers had pleaded with him not to pass into Nirvana. Thus the Namgyal Stupa symbolizes victory over the Mara of Death and is the cause of longevity and stability of life-force.
