  • Mother of buddhas and the embodiment of enlightened activity, Green Tara is a manifestation of swift compassion and supreme wisdom. Her right hand is in the mudrā of supreme generosity, and her left holds a blue utpala flower in the mudrā of granting protection from all fears. Sitting in the half-lotus posture, her right leg is extended ready to swiftly aid beings in need.
  • In his supplication to Tara, Atiśa states:

    Oṃ! Homage to you, lady who protects us from the eight fears!
    Homage to you, lady who blazes with the splendour of auspiciousness!
    Homage to you, lady who closes the door to lower rebirth!
    Homage to you, lady who leads us on the path to higher realms!
    You are the one who holds us always in your care—our guide, support and friend;
    So protect us still, we pray, with all of your vast compassion!

    This statue is a reproduction of a small copper statue that Mayum Kunzang Dechen, the mother of Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, personally brought from Tibet as her practice support.This particular lineage of Tara practice is connected to the Tibetan master Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa (1829-1870), who received the practice directly from Arya Tara herself. Cast from copper alloy by skilled family craftsmen in Nepal, filled by senior Lamas of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, and blessed by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, these statues represent the pinnacle of traditional statue making.
