Wealth Vases (yang bum) are an ancient Tibetan method to restore vitality and balance of the elements (earth, air, fire, water and space) that have otherwise been disrupted. Wealth Vases are also highly regarded for their ability to magnetize wealth, improve health, remove obstacles to long life, pacify anger, and increase the unity of wisdom and compassion.
This particular Wealth Vase was made in Nepal by Kyapje Trulshik Rinpoche (1923 –2011). Trulshik Rinpoche is treasured as one of the main teachers of the 14th Dalai Lama and many of the younger generation of Nyingma lamas today. He was the spiritual heir of several senior Nyingma masters of the last century, including Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and was appointed the official head of the Nyingma school in 2010.
These vases are believed to be over 20 years old and were only recently discovered in a store room in the home of a close disciple Trulshik Rinpoche. It is good to recite a short mandala offering prayer and give offerings to the vase everyday, or, at the very least, on the auspicious days of the 8th, 10th, 15th, 25th and 30th of the lunar month.
Contents of the Wealth Vases from Trulshik, translated from the Tibetan:
The dharanis, mantras, and sacred substances used to prepare these prosperity vases in the year of 2002, in the presence of Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche’s holy remains, located near the Boudhanath Stupa, include: -Substances for the prosperity vase (yang bum) -Substances for dispelling all flaws (nyesel) -Appropriate dharanis and mantras
Among these are: -Substances from Maratika cave’s “prosperity reliquary.” -Water that was used for the ritual cleansing of Maratika cave’s self-arisen long-life vase. -Twenty-three different substances connected with the great yogi Thangtong Gyalpo. -Pills gathering a great number of relics, including the white and red bodhicitta of Guru Padmasambhava and spiritual consort. -Arura and other medicinal substances known to dispel all flaws. |-Dharanis from Dispelling of Flaws Related to Interdependence and Auspicious Connections (Tendrel Nyesel). -Sutra of Infinite Life and Wisdom. -Root tantra of Blazing Wisdom (Yeshe Rapbar). -The liberation upon wearing tantra Buddha’s Sole Heir (Sangye Sechik). -Two kinds of tantras that liberates upon contact. -The White Umbrella Tantra.
These special Wealth Vases were consecrated and blessed by Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche and all the noble assembly gathered at Kyabje Dudjom’s sacred home in Boudhanath, and therefore these hold great blessings.
Upon King Trisong Detsun’s request, Guru Rinpoche performed a Dzambala puja to restore the vital energy of the land of Tibet. In doing so, Guru Rinpoche miraculously manifested himself as Lama Norlha, the Lord of all Dzambhalas, buddhas of prosperity. He then gave extensive instructions on how to craft treasure vases that would assist with the healing of the environment and the restoration of vital energy for the many beings and realms during these degenerate times. Each vase contains yantras, mantras and inconceivable treasure substances from realized beings. Each vase additionally contains “mother essence” medicine pills made with herbs and other blessed substances. Regardless of where you place these vases, it will repair the outer elements. If you place one on your shrine or in any clean, beautiful spot, it will also balance the elements, especially those that affect inner and outer wealth. A treasure vase is truly a holy object.
